Health Concerns: Emotional Health

Emotional Health

Emotional wellbeing is multifaceted. Too often we go through life just “getting by” and suppress important emotions we may be experiencing. Sometimes these emotions take over and do not allow us to have healthy relationships or partake in the activities we once enjoyed. Studies conducted in psychology indicate that 90% of our thoughts in a typical day are repetitive and even destructive to our overall sense of wellbeing.  Luckily, the neurological make-up of the brain is changeable and can and will adjust overtime with the right form of therapy.

Our approach is to assess everyone individually. A thorough intake will provide us with insight into hormonal imbalances, nutritional deficiencies, the presence or absence of coping strategies and the general emotional climate around you.

Naturopathic Medicine

Mindfulness based therapy
Mindfulness based techniques and meditation has been the subject of much controlled clinical research. The results suggest that this form of therapy can have a tremendous impact on stress; promoting relaxation and improved overall enjoyment of life.

Acupuncture has been found to increase various “feel good” endorphins in the body- such as serotonin. Serotonin is a natural anti-depressant and helps to enhance mood and decrease anxiety.

Bio-identical Hormone Replacement Therapy:
As we get older, our hormone levels decline, causing a reduction in energy, mood, sex drive and memory. Bio-identical hormone therapy replaces the necessary hormones that your body is now producing at a slower rate, returning your body to optimal health.

Herbs and Nutritional supplements:

All natural supplements prescribed by Naturopathic Doctors have been third party tested and are therefore guaranteed for their purity and improved efficacy.

When you exercise, your body releases ‘feel-good’ chemicals called endorphins. These endorphins interact with the receptors in your brain, boosting energy and improving overall wellbeing.

Nutrition specific program:
Research suggests that Omega-3 fatty acids and the amino acid tryptophan, found in protein, positively affects mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and Alzheimer’s disease.

The osteopathic approach is to focus on the individual as a whole. In this case not only are the physical complaints of the patient taken into consideration but so are the emotional outcomes. Through cranial work, organ correction, muscle release and joint alignment, the manual work of the osteopathic practitioner helps to rebalance the mind and the body.
