Health Concerns: Heart Health
Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death worldwide. Hypertension (high blood pressure) is an early sign of cardiovascular disease. Hypertension is often nicknamed “the silent killer” because most people cannot tell when their heart or blood vessels are working too hard.
Cardiovascular disease means that your plumbing system (arteries) is becoming clogged. This clogging is referred to as atherosclerosis which is hardening of the blood vessels. This then causes blood pressure to rise because the heart has to work that much harder. A stroke or a heart attack occurs when a critical blood vessel becomes obstructed preventing blood from oxygenating vital tissues.
No one wants to wait until they have a painful or life altering heart attack before changing the way they eat and live. The team of clinicians at Health Momentum believe that the best treatment is prevention. At Health Momentum, blood pressure will be monitored and necessary diet, lifestyle and relaxation therapies will be prescribed according to the individual needs of each client.
